Sheryl Borden
Degree: Home Economics
Year: 1975
From
her student days working at KENW to her full-time job today at ENMUs
Broadcast Center, Sheryl Borden has seen how technology at Eastern
has placed the University on the cutting edge of broadcast production.
Majoring in home economics at ENMU, Sheryl never imagined
she would someday produce and host her own nationally syndicated
television show. Nor did she expect to become director of marketing
for one of only three public broadcast stations in New Mexico. Sheryl
credits Eastern with making this dream job a reality.
Connecting students to the high tech 21st century
jobs is a major commitment at ENMU. And, according to Sheryl, the
combination of high tech and the personal touch were
important components of her ENMU experience.
Technology played an important role, too. Its
amazing what technology ENMU uses to enhance education — from
the classrooms, to labs, to the Broadcast Center, Sheryl
added.
With the resources and opportunities available at ENMU, students
are well prepared for high-tech jobs — not just in broadcasting
but in many different disciplines.
Next time you catch Sheryl Bordens nationally
syndicated Creative Living program, or watch "SportsLook," "Cultura,"
the student-produced "Scene3 News" (now "News 3 New Mexico"),
or see Eastern graduates working on major network news programs,
remember her words: Eastern
opened a door and allowed me to pursue a career I never dreamed
I could achieve. |
