Curriculum and Instruction

  • Bilingual Education Student Organization (BESO)
    This organization serves as a support group for students in education. The organization sponsors fundraising activities for scholarships and for travel to state and national conferences.
  • Student National Education Association (NEA)
    This organization is for students majoring in Elementary Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Education or working toward secondary certification. NEA offers many benefits to students, including liability insurance that covers the student while working in the schools.

Educational Studies

  • Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC)
    This organization promotes the education and welfare of exceptional children, youth and teachers engaged in the education of such children.

Family and Consumer Sciences and Agriculture

  • American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS)
    The AAFCS is the only national association representing family and consumer sciences professionals across practice areas and content specialization.

  • New Mexico Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NMAFCS)
    This organization is the state affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The Pre-Professional/Graduate Students Section (PGS) is a part of the New Mexico Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Affiliate. Both Eastern New Mexico University and New Mexico State University have student chapters.

  • National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
    This organization offers early childhood educators professional development opportunities designed to improve the quality of services for children from birth through age eight — the critical years of development.
