Biography
Penny was born and raised in Portales. She left New Mexico after graduating from ENMU with a Radio/TV Communication degree in 1984. She received her master's degree in Counseling from Northern Arizona University in 1988. She worked in a student personnel capacity at NAU for five years before moving to Texas to pursue her doctorate in Counseling from Texas A&M University – Commerce. She was employed as a Counselor and later the Coordinator for Student Leadership & Development at A&M – Commerce for five years. Upon completion of her doctorate in 1997, Penny began teaching fulltime at the University of Texas at Dallas. She taught there until July 2006 when she made the decision to return home to her New Mexico roots. She is presently employed as a Visiting Faculty member in the ENMU Counseling Program.
